Frontend

The frontend is the part of an application that runs in the user's browser or app: interface, buttons, forms, animations, everything they directly interact with. It talks to the backend through API calls to fetch or send data, without itself storing or processing sensitive information.

On a SaaS product, an extra two seconds of load time or a poorly designed form can be enough to make a user leave before they ever reach the product's actual features. That's why frontend work often goes through fast iteration and user testing: unlike a backend overhaul, an interface change is visible immediately and its impact on conversion or satisfaction can be measured quickly.

The classic trap is judging a product's overall quality solely on its frontend, because it's the visible part, while ignoring what happens behind it. Conversely, some teams neglect accessibility and load performance in favor of polished animations, which penalizes a real share of users, especially on mobile or slow connections. Both dimensions, visual and technical, deserve equal attention.
